Our Neighbor. Working for Us.

JY-2025-Logo_FINALweb_edited.png

I’m running for the County Council to put Montgomery County back on track. This means building a resilient workforce, keeping our schools strong, helping businesses grow, and supporting residents who have made our community home. I am also running to defend our values at a time when the federal government is rolling back civil rights protections, terminating federal jobs, and gutting social programs that serve as a lifeline to many. My vision is to help shape Montgomery County into a thriving hub of educational excellence, economic opportunity, and long-term financial stability that we can all count on.

As your next councilmember, my goal is to make Montgomery County a place where everyone has the same opportunity to achieve their full potential my family did.

SUPPORT MY GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN

Julie is participating in PUBLIC FINANCING,
which means every donation you make is matched!

*The maximum amount a donor can contribute is $500. The first $150 is matched. Only contributions from Montgomery County residents qualify for public matching funds. By participating in the public finance program, my campaign focuses on the voices of everyday Montgomery County residents over large businesses, entities, and those with big wallets. Please note, all donations are NOT tax deductible.

Aligning Education with Economic Opportunity

Julie has a track record of job readiness efforts for students at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). As a former MCPS high school college and career advisor and a Montgomery County Board of Education member, Julie has successfully secured apprenticeship opportunities for students seeking non-traditional career pathways. Since her election to the Board of Education in 2022, Julie has passed policies focused on work-based learning programs, financial literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) and career tech offerings. Building upon this record, Julie will focus on preparing students for the 21st-century workforce by partnering with businesses to attract young workers to our region.

Investing in Our Local Economy

Julie is committed to building a stronger, more sustainable economy. To keep jobs and dollars in our community, Julie recently introduced a Board of Education resolution that would give Montgomery County-based businesses preferences on bidding MCPS projects. Through local procurement, local businesses hire local residents, contribute to our tax base, and in turn, help sustain the very communities our schools serve. Additionally, Julie is committed to ensuring that the County budget reflects our values by bringing a zero-based budgeting approach to the Council’s budgeting efforts. Montgomery County needs a fiscally responsible, transparent budget process to evaluate every dollar, eliminate waste, and reinvest in programs that work for all residents, especially our vulnerable and underserved communities.

Turning Challenges into Positive Progress
As your next councilmember, Julie is ready to confront the challenges that arise from our evolving, vibrant, and diverse community. From pandemic recovery to leadership transitions in our public school system, and the rolling back of our rights by the Trump Administration --- Julie has led through Montgomery County’s toughest moments while serving the largest public school system in the state of Maryland. Her record includes tackling staffing shortages, fighting racism and anti-semitism, and addressing the rising mental health needs of students and staff while serving on the Board of Education. Additionally, she has championed direct communication from the Board to the community and brought people from all walks of life into the conversation. Julie is ready to hit the ground running on day one!
Rooted in the Community
For over 20 years, Julie has been a trusted advocate for families, students with special needs, and immigrant communities in Montgomery County. She founded the Village Initiative to support special education families and served on boards including The Arc of Montgomery County and the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center. She’s a graduate of Leadership Montgomery, a member of the Rotary Club of Bethesda-Chevy Chase, League of Women Voters, Montgomery Women, and Women’s Democratic Club, and lives in Potomac with her husband. They are proud parents of two MCPS graduates. Julie is ready to bring her leadership experiences to deliver opportunity, drive results, and build the Montgomery County we all deserve.
